Win a "Return to the Tap" Water Bottle

Use the 2010 Drinking Water Report to complete the crossword puzzle. The report was mailed to El Paso Water Utilities customers. It is also available at www.epwu.org/water/dw_reports.html. Take the completed puzzle to the TecH2O Water Resources Learning Center, 10751 Montana Ave., and receive a Return to the Tap water bottle if all answers are correct. The facility is open 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday. Limit: one bottle per person while supplies last.

"Return to the Tap"

If you're like most people, you take tap water for granted. That's because the water from your faucet is clean, tastes good and is safe to drink. El Paso Water Utilities takes water quality seriously. Our water exceeds all applicable standards and goals.

How does our water compare to bottled water? Bottled water is not safer or cleaner than tap water. In fact, some companies purchase and bottle water from municipal water utilities like ours. They know our water is regulated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. No water is held to a higher standard than ours.

Now, consider this. You don't have to leave home to buy tap water. Just go to the nearest faucet and turn it on. A gallon of tap water costs less than a penny, but bottled water costs much, much more. And tap water isn't sold in plastic containers. There are no bottles to create litter, no need to recycle, and nothing ends up in the landfill.

So, help EPWU spread the word. It's time to return to the tap. Pick up a glass or reusable bottle. Fill it with tap water and drink your fill. It's good for your wallet and good for your health. It's good for the environment, too.
