Join us to promote water conservation and foster greater understanding and appreciation of total water management in the Chihuahuan Desert. If interested, we encourage you to fill out and submit an application.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Help us welcome visitors and provide information and assistance
  • Represent El Paso Water and the TecH2O Center by participating in special community events
  • Provide interpretations of exhibits and assist with field trips.
  • Develop materials and/or kits on water topics for teachers and classrooms
  • Help publicize the TecH2O Center and our programs

We welcome young people who are eager to learn, to share their knowledge, and to make a difference in our community.

  • Are you a high-schooler looking for community service hours?
  • Are you a college student in education or environmental sciences (or related fields) looking to gain some practical experience?
  • Are you a scout who wants to earn community service credit for a badge?

We enjoy the energy, enthusiasm and extra hands that our volunteers offer. Students must be at least 14 years of age. If interested, we encourage you to fill out and submit an application. 

 


Application Process

Step 1: Apply

Complete an application, a release of information form and submit both with a copy of a state-issued ID or passport.

Step 2: Background Check

Since we are part of the City of El Paso, all potential volunteers must pass a rigid background check. For those over 17 years of age, we also require subsequent fingerprinting.

Step 3: Notification and Orientation

After all paperwork is processed, you will receive an email notification and information regarding upcoming volunteer opportunities. Once scheduled, you will receive notification of the required Volunteer Orientation that is held quarterly. The orientation helps you understand more of how we work together.

Yes, training is offered quarterly.

You can start volunteering as soon as we receive your completed application and we receive notice of the completed background check.

All volunteers must pass a background check, and this is required.

The minimum age requirement is 14 years of age.

Once you submit your completed application, you will begin to receive notifications by email.

No. Volunteers participate in events at the center, school science nights, and various public outreach events held throughout the city.

No. However, we do require a minimum of 20 volunteer hours in a year to attend our annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner.
